About Malba Writers’ Residency (REM) Programme 2024

The REM proposes an urban experience that allows contact with various cultural manifestations of the city and promotes networks of artistic collaboration. The REM is established as a forum for dialogue and literary creation, not only through the presence of prestigious writers and specialists who come to the country, but also through a program of activities and events that take place annually and that aim to the Residence as the main manager and promoter of work networks.

Duties of participants

  • As part of the Residency, guests will have the exclusive condition of participating in two activities intended for the general public (readings and/or interviews) in the museum and one activity outside the institutional framework, as well as participating in a press round upon arrival. to communicate your project.
  • Malba will invite residents to produce a short text (1,000 words) during their stay under a prompt suggested by the museum.
  • The author-in-residence agrees to spend his or her time in Buenos Aires working on a manuscript.
  • An appointment will be made before your departure with the organizers to share your experience during your stay.
  • It is important that applicants are independent and can move around the city autonomously. The residence does not cover extra travel expenses or transfers in the city outside the established stipend.

  • Tickets for various cultural events and a suggested calendar of activities in local reference institutions, through which participants will be able to learn about the City’s cultural agenda.

Eligibility

  • Have at least three published books of any genre: novel, short story, poetry, children’s literature, literary non-fiction. Academic papers or self-published works will not be considered.
  • Not have Argentine citizenship or be residents in the country.
  • If you are not a Spanish speaker, it is desirable (but not an exclusive condition) that some of the author’s works be translated into Spanish.
