The scholarship is for the PhD candidates and is open from different disciplinary backgrounds in the human and social sciences, such as management and organization studies, economics, media and communication studies, cultural studies, development studies, political science, sociology, anthropology, or geography.

Full Information About the CBS Denmark Department of Management, Society and Communication Scholarship 2020

This 2020 CBS Denmark PhD scholarship runs for a period of 3 years and includes teaching obligations equivalent of half of the year’s work (840 work hours). The scholarships are fully salaried positions, according to the national Danish collective agreement. The scholarship includes the tuition fees, office space, travel grants plus a salary, currently starting with per month app. DKK 27.363 up to DKK 33.045 depending on seniority, plus a pension contribution totalling 17,1 %. The salary level and appointment is determined by the Ministry of Finance’s collective agreement with the Central Academic Organization.

The three-year PhD program at CBS allows you to conduct research under the supervision of CBS professors, supported by research training courses. The program is highly international, and you are expected to participate in international research conferences and to spend time abroad as a visiting  PhD student. Applicants should have high grades from their universities for enrollment in the PhD School, applicants must have received a grade 10 or higher on the Danish 7-point grading scale on their master’s thesis. A  background in social sciences and in particular business management and economics, also applicants with an interest in joining (one or more of) the Department’s research environments.

Eligibility Requirements for Programme

The eligibility requirements for this scholarship programme are as follows;

  • Applicants need to ensure they have completed their Bachelor’s and Masters degree program.
  • Applicants must be fluent in English.

Applicants for this scholarship are required to develop a well-specified research proposal, which should be linked to one or more of the research environments, these environments are The CBS Sustainability Centre, The Centre of Business and Development Studies, The Communication, Organization and Governance (COG) Research Cluster.   • The challenges of fostering practices and transformations towards sustainability of organizations, markets, individuals, and society at large
  • The relations between business, government and civil society in governing sustainable development, particularly in the Global South
  • The dynamic interplay of communication, organization and governance (especially in the age of digital media), including issues such as diversity, culture, learning, change, and/or (responsible) management and leadership, as these pertain to contemporary organizations
