According to the management, the new deadline is February 28th, 2021.

OOU Postgraduate Programmes Admission Requirements

Postgraduate Diploma Programmes

Applicants up for the admission into the Postgraduate Diploma programme are expected to be:

  1. All the graduates of the Olabisi Onabanjo University or any other approved university with at least a minimum of third class
  2. All holders of Higher National Diploma at less than the lower credit level.

Academic Master Degree Programmes

(i) M.A/M.Sc./M.Ed., LL.M

All the Applicants are expected to normally possess not lower than Second Class Honours (Lower Division) Degree of the Olabisi Onabanjo University or any other University that is approved in relevant disciplines.

Professional Master Degree Programmes

The Applicants is expected to normally possess nothing lower than the Second Class Honours (Lower Division) Degree of the Olabisi Onabanjo University or other University that is approved or a Higher National Diploma at not less than Lower Credit level or a Third Class University Degree with a Postgraduate Diploma in the relevant field(s) and/or fellowship of the relevant professional body.

PhD Programmes

  1. Candidates that have obtained their Master degree in relevant disciplines from Olabisi Onabanjo University with a minimum of 3.50 Cumulative Grade Points would eligible to directly register for PhD programmes.
  2. Candidates that are from the Olabisi Onabanjo University with Cumulative Grade Points of 3.00 to 3.49 would not only be admitted for M.Phil/Ph.D. and not PhD directly. Their candidature for PhD shall, however, be determined based on the performance after two (2) Semesters course work.
  3. Candidates that have acquired their Master degree in relevant disciplines from other Institutions aside from Olabisi Onabanjo University with at least of 3.00 Cumulative Grade Points on a 5 point Scale or Weighted Average of 50% will only be offered admission for M.Phil/Ph.D. Their candidature for PhD would be noted due to their performance after two (2) Semesters course work.

Candidates applying for the following programmes are to note their admission requirements

M.Sc. Mass Communication

  • The O’Level credit pass in English Language and Mathematics is compulsory for all the Mass Communication programmes applicants.

Postgraduate Diploma in Law

  • All the candidates that are in possession of less than Third class Bachelor’s degree in Law of the Olabisi Onabanjo University or any other university that has been approved. All the candidates are expected to be in possession of at least five credits passes at O’Level, including English language and English Literature.

Master of Law (LL.M.)

  • Bachelor of Law (LL.B) Degree holders of Olabisi Onabanjo University or any other recognized University by the Senate of Olabisi Onabanjo University with at least of Second Class Lower; and
  • Bachelor of Law (LL.B) Degree holders of Olabisi Onabanjo University or any other recognized University by Olabisi Onabanjo University Senate and do not meet the requirement stated in (a) above but hold the Postgraduate Diploma in Law Degree.

Postgraduate Diploma in Anaesthesia

  • Candidates that are holders of a Goo First Degree in medicine and surgery from the Olabisi Onabanjo University or any other university that is approved by the institution’s senate.

Master of Public Health (MPH)

  • Graduates that are from the Olabisi Onabanjo University with a degree of M.B.Ch.B or equivalent medical and dental degrees which includes MBS/BDS from other recognized Universities. Candidates in possession of at least five years of qualification experience (including Internship, NYSC Services plus three years working experience in areas that are relevant to public health.

M.Sc. Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology

  • All the Holders of a good First Degree in Pharmacy (classified) from Olabisi Onabanjo University or any other University that is approved by Senate of Olabisi Onabanjo University.
  • All Holders of the classified Pharmacy degrees not below Second Class Honours (Lower Division) or CGPA of not less than 3.0 may be offered the admission.
  • Candidates are expected to have scored acceptable grades (not less than C) in Pharmaceutics courses in their final year undergraduate examinations.

IN ADDITION TO THE STATED ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR INDIVIDUAL PROGRAMMES ABOVE, ALL APPLICANTS ARE TO NOTE THAT

  1. The University programmes require O’ Level Credit pass in English Language and Mathematics in addition to the other three credits in relevant subjects.
  2. The University Matriculation requirements of the individual Departments running the programme is expected to be satisfied before a candidate can stand a chance to considered for Admission.
  3. For the admission into any Programmes, possession of National Youth Service Corps (N.Y.S.C.) Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate issued by the Directorate is a must.
  4. Applicants are expected to request their Alma Master in other to forward the Academic Transcripts of their Higher National Diploma / 1st Degree / Postgraduate Diploma / Master Degree to the Secretary, Postgraduate School, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye nothing later than January 31, 2021.
  5. PhD candidates are expected to contact all the relevant Departments for availability of Supervisors and vacancies before taking the decision of applying.
  6. Every of the applicant is expected to submit their photocopies of all certificates that is listed in the application form such as Degree, Diploma, NYSC and Professional Certificates at the relevant departments.
  7. All the Completed Application Form and Acknowledgement Slip/Photo card are to be submitted to the Secretary, Postgraduate School and to the relevant Department not later than January 31, 2021.

OOU Postgraduate Qualifying Exam /Interview Schedule

The Qualifying examinations/Interviews for the Postgraduate Programmes of the University will Not hold starting on Friday, 11th and Saturday, 12th September 2020 as scheduled earlier. New date will be communicated in due course. Any inconvenience brought is regretted.
