Program Details
Western Australian Premier’s Book Awards are open for entries for books published or self-published in 2023. The awards support, develop and recognise excellence in Western Australian writing. The State Library of Western Australia manages the Premier’s Book Awards on behalf of the Government of Western Australia.
Entries close at 5 pm (WST) on 26 February 2024. Winners will be announced at the State Library in June 2024. Receive the latest information by subscribing to the WA Premier’s Book Awards eNewsletter. We only post a few times a year. Sign up at the bottom of this page.
Eligibility
Following consultation with other state and national literary awards, an addendum has been added to the guidelines to allow collaborative, community works. This adjustment may be applicable to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander authors and illustrators or other creative partners. The rule excluding anthologies will remain with the below qualification.
“Anthologies of poetry, short stories or books written by three or more authors are ineligible. *
*Books that are the collaborative work of a community group or community group and author may be eligible. All contributors must be individually named as co-author/s of the book in the entry form, and the book must meet all other eligibility criteria.”
